Graham is sharing that he felt her love and support - she bought a piece of his artwork and also paid him to create stationary with his art for her. Aunt Nancy made sure that he felt like he was creating good art, but also that he felt encouraged to keep trying, keep learning...
He was unsure how to word it, but that was what her gift to him was. Graham was able to participate in some family gatherings that included Aunt Nancy, so he has a good memory of relating to her.
My memories of Aunt Nancy are with love and kindness. The summers our families would get together when they were living in Massachusetts and then when they moved to California, and would still make trips back to Chiago to visit family. Those visits were the best! One of those summers included us all going to Grant Park for July 4th fireworks. It may have been one of the first ones. It was crowded, but a very happy, family friendly event. Nancy loved the adventure and excitement, which made it super fun for all of us. (Not the stress of worrying about anything bad happening.) Of course our family favorite was when we traveled to Massachusetts in 1974. Uncle Tom and Aunt Nancy both were such excellent hosts during such a historical time of celebration (Boston's Bicentennial) and there was so much to see and do!
Whenever Mom and Nancy were together, they would share so many stories and there was so much laughing.
Whenever I was with Aunt Nancy, I always felt her warmth and love for me; as with each one of us. She would share memories and stories of when we were babies and young children.
